How Comics Make the World: Panel’s First Interactive Comic
Built with Panel

Comics do more than show us a world. Through panels, composition and sequence, they influence what we notice, what comes first and how long a moment can last.
How Comics Make the World began as a personal story about this idea. It looks at comics not only as a way to tell stories, but as a form that teaches us how to read images, connect fragments and build meaning in the space between panels.
The project is also the first complete interactive comic built with Panel.
Panel could not be tested only through isolated features or technical demonstrations. It needed a real story — one with its own rhythm, visual language and point of view.
Building the comic meant confronting practical questions. When should a panel move? When should it remain still? Can interaction deepen a sequence without turning it into a game?
The result combines static images, subtle motion, changing compositions and reader-triggered progression. The story does not simply play from beginning to end. It can hold a moment, reveal new information and respond — while the reader remains in control.
How Comics Make the World is not intended as a final definition of interactive comics. It is one story, one experiment and the first complete example of what Panel can make possible.
The visual material was AI-assisted; the composition, sequence, motion and interaction were authored in Panel.
